Black Bear Hunting

We've been working on the lodge so much lately that we haven't had time to do much fishing or hunting. We did fish a little the last few days and the Steelhead season seems to be slowing down. We caught a few but the water has been dropping. A little more rain would help the fishing out. Brent and I have spent the last few evenings out looking for bears. Last night we tracked a nice big bear to a grass meadow and got to within 70 yards but ran out of light. I'm bow hunting so I needed to close the gap a little more. If we were gun hunting my season would be over. Tonight we returned to that meadow and setup waiting for him to return. We didn't see the big one but we did see a younger bear work his way into the grass flat. I wasn't going to shoot him but I did a stalk to see how close I could get. I got to withing 40 yards of him before he winded me and ran off. The wind was swirling so the bigger bear may have winded us if he came in earlier in the evening. I have added some video of the bear we saw tonight. Hopefully I will have video of the big bear soon.
