Halibut Fishing

It rained earlier in the week and moved some more salmon into the rivers and moved new salmon into the saltwater around the island. The fishing has been good and we are enjoying some great weather right now. We got plenty of Coho Salmon and a few King Salmon as well.

If you like crab we have good new for you. Crabbing has been incredible this year. We pulled one pot the other day and it had 24 crab in it. You can see crab walking along the bottom of the bay from the docks at low tide.

Bottom fishing has been good. We got a good variety of fish this week. The halibut fishing is good but hasn't peaked yet. This week we got a monster 200 pound halibut. It was a lot of fun but too big in my opinion. I like to eat the smaller 30 pound fish myself. We've been eating very well up here. I have been forced to eat halibut, salmon, or crab. It's tough but it's my job.

Deer hunting season has been open for the residents and I have seen some nice bucks taken. Hunting opens for non-residents on August 15th and all tags can be purchased over the counter during the season.
