Season Updates

Summer is Coming!
We have seen more bears the last two weeks than we saw in the entire month of May. That shows how late the season was due to the heavy snow last winter. The guys thatwere here hunting last week got one bear and had several other opportunities. They had opportunities on three bears the day they scored. The bear pictured below is a big guy we spotted from 450 yards away. We made our way around on him and got to where he waswhen we spotted him but he had circled back on us and made his way into the woods. I guess that's why he's big.
There are several different types of salmon being caught in the Saltwater right now. People have been catching King Salmon, Coho Salmon, Pink Salmon and even some Sockeye Salmon. They should start catching some pinks anytime now. The King Salmonfishing is going well and the Coho fishing is just starting. The halibut fishing is picking upas well but is far from spectacular. The water has been beautiful lately. We had a largepod of porpoises feeding around the boat the other day when we were out on thesaltwater. We spent about ten minutes just watching them.
For those of you who are looking to deer hunt later this summer we have a lots of bucksaround. The photo below is of a buck we have had around the lodge that last two years. He has a crooked antler but seems to be doing well. I saw several bucks with tall eyeguards this week. Just two months until deer season starts!
